The Asian Institute of Technology & Management (AITM) was registered on 20 June 2012 to offer high-quality national and international programs in Nepal. In offering international programs in Nepal, the main aim will be to transform Nepalese institutions of higher education into outstanding seats of learning, equipped to foster high-quality education, scholarship and research, to produce enlightened citizens with strong moral and ethical values. AITM has joined hands with two privately owned and managed colleges, namely Little Angels’ College (LAC) and Xavier Academy (XA) to form Nepal Education Foundation – Consortium of Colleges, Nepal, now known by its acronym NEF-CCN. The main objective of forming this consortium was to create an entity that could become a national university by virtue of its physical facilities, academic programs and excellent academic track record. NEF-CCN’s long-term objective is to become a truly international university, with international programs, international faculty and students by 2020. In order to be different and unique, NEF-CCN is building strategic alliances with reputable academic institutions in Asia and beyond to offer international academic programs, which can attract not only students from within the country but from Asia and beyond. NEF-CCN is fully committed be truly a center of academic excellence in Asia. AITM is currently offering 3 international and 9 national programs. The total student enrollment is over 1,100. National Programs AITM offers several national programs in association with Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) of Nepal and Purbanchal University (PU). AITM is currently offering 9 national programs. AITM hopes to offer additional programs of reputed national universities in the near future. HSEB Programs: - 10+2 Science - 10+2 Hotel Management PU Programs: - BHM – Bachelor in Hotel Management - BIT – Bachelor in Information Technology - BE – Computer Engineering - BE – Electronics & Communication - BE – Civil Engineering - B.Tech. – Biotechnology International Programs AIT (Thailand) Programs Under the aegis of NEF-CCN, AITM is offering two-stage Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in association with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand since February 2013. The program envisages the delivery of the first half of the academic programs at AITM campus in Nepal and the second half in AIT main campus in Bangkok, Thailand. The graduation degree to the students will be conferred by Asian Institute of Technology. Under the Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) signed with AIT on 15 June 2011, AITM can offer a number of AIT undergraduate and graduate programs. AITM currently has students enrolled in Bachelor program in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) and Master in Business Administration (MBA). The enrollment for the Bachelor program has been suspended for the time being. So far, two intakes have been taken for the MBA program. Admission is ongoing for the third intake in the 2-stage AIT MBA program. All the academic degrees for the two stage academic programs will be awarded by AIT after completion of the minimum AIT credit requirements. The students who fulfill the AIT requirements for graduation will receive the AIT Masters/Bachelors degree. While implementing the AIT courses, NEF-CCN is committed to uphold and enhance the high standards that AIT has maintained for over half a century. To ensure this, AIT will assist by continuous monitoring and evaluation of the quality of programs and their delivery, including annual evaluation of all teaching faculty and staff. The Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) were signed by Prof. Dr. Said Irandoust, President of AIT, and Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, Chairperson of NEF-CCN in the gracious presence of Chief Guest, Hon’ble Ganga Lal Tuladhar, Minister for Education of the Federal Republic of Nepal, and a large gathering of distinguished Nepalese and foreign dignitaries on 15 June 2011. AITM hopes to offer other AIT degree programs which are relevant to the development of the country in both bachelors and masters level in future. To ensure quality as well as to add value to the first stage of the AIT MBA programs, AITM has been inviting reputed faculty from prestigious foreign institutions/universities such as Asian Institute of Technololgy (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow, India, Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia and University of Colombo. AITM truly believes in giving more in all the programs it offers, hence the slogan “AITM GIVES MORE”. IMI University Center (Switzerland) Program AITM, under the name of WhiteHouse Education Network, which is in the process of being rebranded as Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with IMI University Centre Switzerland, one of the most prestigious hospitality institutions in the world, on 25 February 2013, to renew the existing academic collaboration agreement by another 6 years to offer Higher Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management (HDHM) in Nepal. Prof. Dr. John Fenby, Dean of the IMI University Centre, Switzerland, signed on behalf of IMI University Centre and Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, Chairperson of Nepal Education Foundation – Consortium of Colleges, Nepal (NEF-CCN), signed on behalf of WHEN, AITM. Under this agreement, AITM can continue to offer the 3 years IMI Higher Diploma course in Nepal with the possibility of one additional year in IMI University Centre, Switzerland to complete the Bachelor degree with Honours. After completion of the Bachelor degree, students are eligible for internship in Switzerland. This arrangement will improve the employment prospects of our Nepalese students. AITM Board and Academic Council AITM is managed by a Board of Directors, chaired and co-chaired by academic professionals, who have spent almost 40 years in the education sector and have established well-reputed educational institutions. The quality of the AITM academic programs are ensured by an Academic Council, comprising of reputable academicians, with proven track record of academic leadership of some prestigious institutions. AITM is being promoted by a varied group of mostly professionals, with both national and international experience, who have made a name for themselves in their respective areas of expertise and would very easily qualify to be in any list of eminent Nepalese.
